Well, those three-and-a-bit weeks went quickly, didn't they...? It feels like just five minutes since we got back from Ireland, and today we're off again.

I noted a little while ago that the upcoming travel plans no longer take in Kuching. I'm still disappointed by this, but I think it's the right decision, even more so given we've had the ill luck to pick up yet another respiratory tract virus... Yes, hard on the heels of the covid (or whatever it was) that we contracted in Wales, we now have some other goddam tedious thing that makes us cough and feel pretty wretched. I usually get about one of these things a year. To get two in the space of two months is beyond annoying. However, as it turns out, not to be heading into a smoky environment in a few days' time has to be a good thing.

Another frustration has been that recent blogging activities have again been disrupted by web host malfunctions. They did respond to our complaints, in fairness, and things are currently running much better. Till the next time... We've experienced this cycle before...

Anyway, what follows is a quick round-up of the last little while, before we head off on the boat to Liverpool in a few hours:

goulden
Tribute to Manxwoman Sophia Goulden (1833-1910), mother of suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst. The Isle of Man gave women the vote in 1881 (earlier even than New Zealand, which leads the pack of better-known nations, with a women's suffrage date of 1893). Women are still under-represented in the House of Keys, though...

Our coffee walks continue:

Spill the Beans is always photogenic

I never tire of Douglas's roofscapes

The seasons change. We're past the equinox now, and the days do feel so much shorter. It's still fairly warm: We've not even considered turning on heating. But you can feel the cold waiting in the wings.

shrooms
Definitely autumn...

hydrangea
But the hydrangeas aren't having a bar of it...
